Thesis Results

These are a summary of the results from Experiment 3. Briefly, the three techniques are the Gyration Air Mouse with greatly reduced sensitivity, a virtual laser pointer stabilized with PRISM adaptive rate control, and ARC-Pad2, my own technique. ARC-Pad2 uses the touchscreen on a mobile device as a touchpad, and also lets the user jump the cursor to distant locations by quickly tapping and releasing.

If you're attempting to create a system similar to ARC-Pad2, I should stress the importance of proper cursor acceleration. Cursor acceleration, together with absolute jumping, form the primary mechanism of AP2. Please see the thesis for additional details.
